Local Teacher Training in Zambia
Donation protected
Hi! I am a passionate international drama educator with a Masters degree who has been in the classroom for around ten years. An incredible opportunity has been set in front of me. Impact Network International is a remarkable organization seeking to rework schools in rural Zambia. Schools there face enormous challenges in obtaining resources and trained teachers. Impact Network has successfully developed nine schools by supplying activity based instruction filled tablets. This enable local teachers who are often only high school graduates to focus on student learning. But the tablets are only a tool. For three months, I am going to live in these communities and work with local teachers. I will be observing and training local teachers, empowering them to be stronger and more confident teachers. Impact Network will be providing room and board on the ground, but the cost to get there keeps rising, and vaccines are expensive! This is something I've always dreamed of doing and it is happening now. I will use the money to defer the costs incurred throughout this three month period, including materials, insurance, vaccination (three months of malaria pills!) and transportation costs. Three months with solar power and no running water and I can't wait! No one likes to ask for money, but I can't let this opportunity pass. I will be blogging throughout the journey and will keep you updated on the entire experience.
